A Visit from Dad

In the past five years or so, as I've been on this spiritual journey, my mom has visited often from the other side. She has given me guidance and reassurance. Love you, miss you, Mom.

My dad died seven years before Mom but I'm not sure that I ever really felt his presence as I do hers, at least not until this last year. My son has been getting into Subarus, a favorite of my dad, and as Daniel has been acquiring and working on old Subarus, I have felt Dad watching over him and approving.

That feeling was confirmed by Candace Lord, an east mountain medium I met with recently. As we settled down for my reading, she mentioned that a man with a version of the name James and the name Fred was present. My dad's name is Jimmy Fred McClary.

She asked if he likes cars because he was telling her to tell me that I need balance, like a good car, to run well. He then talked about an unfortunate situation I was in at home. He told me that I am climbing a mountain and will be able to see the big picture when I reach the top, which should be around March.

He said I had done all I could and had to let them do it on their own (being vague to protect privacy) and when a certain someone reaches the age of 27, he will also better see the big picture. This meant so much to me. Spirit knows what we need to hear.

At some point in the reading, Candace looked directly at me and said, "You want to do what I do, don't you?"

"Yeah, I do," I replied. I want to be a spiritual medium someday.

"You can do it," she said, "In fact, you are better at it than you think." She rubbed her nose, saying that the action was her sign that this was true. She also did a quick tally of what my number is and we discovered that she and I are both 5s. I determined to look into this more later...still need to.

Dad said goodbye with what Candace saw as a row of x's and o's written in his precise, tiny handwriting. He had excellent handwriting skills. He was a computer guy, after all. Love you, miss you, Dad.

Our session time up, Candace referred me to Marya O'Malley, who can help mentor me into mediumship, and she gave me a link to a guided 10-minute positive chakra meditation. I left feeling great.

Till next time.

Nourishing my chakras

It's been only a week or so since I began doing a 10-minute guided chakra meditation but wow! I'm beginning to feel balanced and more positive about things. Once I decided that I was not going to stress about whether I was meditating correctly or not, that I was just going to start doing it and see where it went, it has become an enjoyable part of my day that I look forward to.

Like a lot of people, my first concern about meditating was that I wouldn't be able to still my mind long enough to get any benefit from it. That was my only concern, to be honest. And it turned out to be true -- my mind sometimes won't find calm. Rather than fight it, I decided to go with it. I just let those random thoughts flow but I slow them down and take a look at them as they think their way through my mind. I also try to pull myself back to the words the guide speaks and learn more about chakras.

After a couple of days of doing this meditation, I could tell which chakras needed nourishment. Definitely, my root chakra was the most deprived. How did I know this? I didn't. I just felt it.

I could easily envision the color red and its nourishing, healing energy entering with my breath near the base of my spine, and my racing mind stilled as I was guided through this part of the meditation.

It makes sense. The past year has been tumultuous. I felt alienated from my family and friends. I had problems making ends meet financially. I felt like I was being pushed out of my own home. I was angry and hurt most of the year.

When the soothing guide on the video told me to reach down, down into the earth, I felt at home. I felt calm, stable, and centered. I belonged.

Another thing I assumed about meditation was that I needed to set the stage before meditating. I guess that's true but I don't schedule it at a specific time. I just get settled into my day, smudge, make some tea, listen to the early morning news, and brush my teeth. I let the dogs out and wait for them to return before settling into a comfortable position to meditate, usually within the first half hour of getting up each morning.

My favorite part of the meditation is near the end of the meditation when the guide tells us to bathe the crown chakra with warm golden light. Just feels good.

Try it yourself if you haven't already and let me know what you think.

Until next time. Peace.

Witchy wisdom

I'm learning so much on my journey to become a psychic medium. When I first started this blog, it was the memes and other posts of witches and mediums on Facebook that I first connected with and learned from, people like the Sage Lady and Wayward Witch.

At about the same time, I was making connections with people on social media that felt deeper than just making new online friends. Some were people I had known in the past in some way, like one who was a student at the high school where I first taught in Tohatchi a long, long time ago. I am so old.

I had intended to blog about each person who has influenced me so far and how they have influenced me but there are so many. As I listed under each name the things I have learned, I realized that almost everyone on my list was sending out similar messages and lessons. That's why I decided instead to organize my thoughts as to the --

Messages received and lessons learned

The main message I received from many is that I need to slow down and achieve balance. I've been "stirring the pot" and now I need to step back and let the flavors simmer. I need to find calm for myself.

Recommendations to accomplish this include holding onto some calming blue chalcedony, practicing daily 10-minute chakra balancing meditation, conducting a bowl burning ceremony to release negative energy/let things go, and learning to immerse myself in the moment.

Another common message was that change is coming, good change, and it might happen quickly. I'm headed down paths unknown but Spirit will be with me. All I have to do is picture it happening and it will. Life is speeding up but I need to maintain calm from within.

So what am I doing?

I'm blogging, first and foremost, which is a grounding activity for me.

I walk whenever possible, even if it's only through the supermarket. You can get some good walking in at Smith's.

I have an acre of land and I will also "pace" in the front yard, simply walking back and forth along this little path the dogs have made. The fresh air is cleansing.

As I pace, I chant, asking Spirit to send me "positive energy, love and light; healing energy, love and light; and calming energy, love and light." Sometimes I talk to myself, planning out loud my day.

I smudge a lot, sometimes multiple times a day, and I continue to add crystals and rocks to my collection. I love to make rock arrangements with them, very calming.

I've also recently begun doing a 10-minute meditation when I feel the need. It often happens that, when I first begin the meditation, I almost stop because I feel like I'm too nervous but then I concentrate on the guide's voice and it all comes together. Each time, I'm able to calm down a little quicker. It helps me get off to a good start to the day.

I continue to pay attention to my mentors and ask questions. I love what I'm learning so far. What I appreciate most about almost all of what I've learned is the positivity and love shared among these special people. Thank you.

Until next time. Peace.

Nine crows on a wire

I blogged recently about numbers and their messages. Since becoming so aware of their power, I have started to pay much closer attention, and since writing that blog post, I've experienced a few interesting things.

The other day, on my way home from a visit with medium Candace Lord, just outside of Edgewood by an RV park I wouldn't mind living in, I spotted nine crows sitting on a wire. It felt great. I waved at them. They nodded back. I knew it had to be a good thing and determined to look it up when I got home.

First, I looked into the number 9, without the crows, and this is what I discovered:
  • 9 is associated with learning to say no, something I had just done recently in a big way. It was a good move.
  • 9 is associated with problem solving, and I feel I am solving many problems lately, especially on that day that I saw those crows.
  • 9 is optimistic.
  • 9 is visionary.
As for the significance of nine crows -- they represent love and positive recognition. That speaks to me, too. I had received both love and positive recognition at my reading earlier that afternoon.

222
When I got onto social media that evening, I looked at the data on my Facebook pages. I have three -- my personal page, Live and Learn New Mexico!, and Moriarty Michelle, a Medium in the Making. For the day, on each, I had two reads. That's 222, an angel number. I have been seeing it often lately.

The main message I get from this number is to have faith in how my life is working out, that something significant could happen if I just trust myself but it might take a little extra work. I also want family harmony but might have to accept that not all relationships can be made harmonious.

222 is preparing me for positive change. It is also allowing me to achieve balance.

Numerology is fascinating, I must say. Until next time. Peace.

The Spirituality of Numbers

A few days ago, I looked at the stats on this blog. There were 33 reads for the day and 33 reads for the day before. I knew there was significance/meaning to this so I looked it up. This is what I found:

33
Thirty-three is an Angel number that signifies growth and creativity. It is time to let your imagination shape your life. Pay attention to goals and dreams. Follow the dream you had as a child.

Thirty-three is also called a Master number.  It is nicknamed the "Master Teacher". I like to think that fits. I like to think we all are learning from this blog, that I am a teacher of sorts as I share my journey through writing.

Thirty-three is a number that has a rare vibration and combines Master numbers 11 and 22. This information led me to look into those numbers. I'm listing the characteristics that speak to me most.

11
  • old soul
  • paramount mission is to help others
  • keen intuition
  • creative
  • stand out from crowd
  • lean toward career in the arts
22
  • will experience success and support
  • need to learn to replace negative with positive thoughts
  • require system and routine
  • organized
  • scientific
  • compassionate
  • ability to bring elaborate plans to life
111
I went to bed that night knowing that I would make another interesting numerical discovery upon awakening the next morning, and indeed, I did. When I looked at my blog stats, there were 111 reads for the day, a number I know to be magical but was unsure why. So again I looked it up. This is what I found:

Be aware of your thoughts and ideas. Think about what you want, not what you don’t want. Positive thoughts more quickly become reality. Rely on inner wisdom and intuition to guide you. This is a good time to ask for what you want but do it quickly. There is a window of opportunity.

Ask now for what you want...I made list of the things I want and soon:
  • I want this blog to help people with its positive message
  • I want it to become financially successful
  • I want to continue to learn to be a kind witch
  • I want to "blog" regularly on my favorite local morning radio show
44
The next day, I acted on one of those goals and felt like it was a productive day. When I checked my stats the following morning, the number of pageviews was 44. I looked it up and found it to be an Angel and Master number that signifies balance, achievement, and self-discipline.

My angels are helping me achieve my goals, giving me strength and energy to endure any obstacles. Interestingly, that day I also pulled the Emperor card -- achievement.
I'm feeling good! This was an enlightening exercise and I encourage you to try it, too. Do a little spiritual number research and find out what kind of person you are and other interesting things. Or maybe you are already familiar with all of this stuff. Either way, please kindly comment and let us know what you think.

Until next time. Peace.

What the birds tell me

It's been a crazy year, a time in which birds have played a big part of my life. I've been listening to the messages and discovered that birds are definitely messengers. The last month has been especially trying, and my blackbird friends, and then my new mourning dove friends, have helped me cope and find my calm, for the most part.

Following are some observations and experiences I've had that mean something to me, experiences I'm learning from. I'm just bullet listing them.

blackbirds
  • They like my son and me as a team: they fly right over our car multiple times when we are out and about, sometimes independently, sometimes in pairs.
  • They are companions on my journey in life.
  • When things are bad, they seem to be everywhere, a lot of times in 3's. There were 4 once that swooped low over my porch -- what does that mean? I think they reflect my emotions. They are my spirit animals, and they represent qualities/attributes I see in myself.
  • I want to be a raven in my next life.
  • Some say they are harbingers of death. Not for me. They are nothing but good, although I don't always feel calmer when they're around.
  • On the winter solstice 2019, nary a blackbird was in sight. I believe this was because the mourning doves had a message for me.
mourning doves
  • As all the drama was taking place over the last month, I noticed that there would be one or two mourning doves hanging out in the places the blackbirds usually did. Several swooped down over the porch like the blackbirds did.
  • When they were around the blackbirds were gone.
  • When the winter solstice hit, the doves were everywhere.
  • I thought, what are the doves' messages? This is what I came up with:
    • make peace with bad situations
    • make a new beginning
    • forgive and let it go
  • All of those doves were around for only one day. I haven't seen a single one in a long time since.
So where do I go from here? I'm going to think more, continue to reflect, observe, and listen to the messages. A message for you -- remember, I'm not the only one out and about when these birds display their awesome feats. Look up!

Until next time. Peace.

A Generation of Light Workers

I grew up in a very materialistic, claw-your-way-to-the-top, competitive world. Earning a college degree was important. A lot of that had to do with where I grew up -- Los Alamos, New Mexico, home of Los Alamos National Laboratory. But a lot of it had to do with where in history my generation fell, a time when getting a degree could actually result in a good salary, a time when a family could easily get by on one income.

My generation was also taught that hard work results in good money. You had to earn every cent you made. Build your credit. Nothing should come easy, and there was no such thing as someone who worked hard but made little. Oh! and insure everything, even your health, because you can't afford to lose it.

Years later, many of us began to realize that none of that was working too well. I got my BA and got a job. I started paying rent, I bought (financed) a car, and began spending way out of my means as a new teacher in the 1980s. I was way over my head in debt in no time at all.

As I look back over the years, my life was about money and the lack of it. And that's too bad. I wish it had been more about life. Which leads me to the point of this blog...

The healers
I've noticed on social media that there are many young people who seem to get it. They know our world is in danger. They know that it's about peace and love, not hate and war. They believe in living a kind life. I've had several reach out to me, saying they feel a connection. They definitely are connected, and they are speaking out. I'm happy to notice as well that the rest of the world is starting to listen.

Greta Thunberg is probably the most notable young activist in our country at this time. She's just been named Time magazine's Person of the Year. I don't need to say much more about her, though. I want to talk about an East Mountains kid whom I admire and have been positively influenced by -- Jayden Allen.

Jayden is a hero to me. He saw the plight of the homeless and felt he could fill a need, and people are paying attention. You can read more about what he does at https://eastmountainshopper.com/resident-spotlight-jayden-allen/.

Young people (and grandmas btw) all over the world are standing and speaking up. I am hopeful that this generation of healers will save our planet and our souls.

On a related note, my indigenous friends, too, are embracing their spirituality, speaking out to address past wrongs done to their cultures, and working to correct the historical record. I love it!

Finally, last week, when I had an argument with someone close, a child of six, Nathan, helped me work through my angst. He showed me that empathy is a huge part of the healing process, that we can't judge someone else if we haven't walked in their shoes. Thank you, Nathan.

Until next time. Peace.
